There are many examples of what could happen if we let countries with dictatorships unleash further surveillance upon their people.

One example is in China, where an entire community was (or still is?) put under strict protocols of a social credit system that essentially controlled it's people. This is very similar to a Black Mirror TV show episode, but in real life.
